The Flame of Democracy at Constitution Hill in Johannesburg commemorates the 15th anniversary of the signing of the Constitution of the Republic. While being located outside the Constitutional Court which was formerly a colonial prison, it is to show that the nation will not return to totalitarianism and institutionalized oppression.
